The Wal-Mart Epifany
Like the majority of the web we’ve all spent countless hours laughing at the Clients from Hell and People of Wal-Mart. The website, People of Wal-Mart is filled with pictures of the extremely interesting people shopping at Wal Mart. Ranging from Violet Beauregarde lying on a bench to the pink panther – You can find just about anyone on this site. Just Yesterday I walked through Wal-Mart and saw a skinny acne faced kid with an interesting T-Shirt, It probably could have made this site – the shirt read: “Snitches get Stitches”. (I apologize for not puling out my phone and snapping a shot)
Snitches get Stitches
Lets look at the story of Kurt Greenbaum, an online journalist who not only told someones boss that they wrote a naughty word online but also got them fired for it. Well, a couple people got a hold of this story and lets just say its not a story where everyone lives happily ever after. If you Google “Kurt Greenbaum” the results are not exactly what you would want your kid to find when they Google daddy’s name some day. Take a look…
Reputation Management
Our opinions of Kurt Greenbaun and the teacher who made a vulgar no longer matter – the all mighty Google has spoken. The web has made it more important than ever to watch what we say and ultimately take responsibility for our actions. We can only remember when the term “Reputation Management” was a PR word used when working with celebrities and people in executive positions. No longer are celebrities and athletes the only people who face reputation management nightmares. Now, bloggers, tweeters, journalists and even waiters have to be careful what they say and do online. Just when we thought the only question that mattered was what people would say about you when you die. You realize that on the web your name and what you have done in the past will be relevant.
Dead or alive.
